LOCATION
Beşiktaş is located comfortably on the centre of Istanbul, hugging the blue waters of the Bosporus from the European side. Beşiktaş is neighboured by Sarıyer to the north, Kağıthane and Şişli to the west, and Beyoğlu to the south. Its eastern side is completely surrounded by the strait of Istanbul. It is one of the smaller districts, yet it still gets perhaps the greatest number of visitors everyday mostly due to its position at the transition from Anatolia to Europe and vice versa.
In fact, both of the southern Bosporus bridges have their routes going through different parts of Beşiktaş so anyone willing to cross the strait most likely goes through this district. This in time turned Beşiktaş into some sort of a transit hub. You can get ferries to practically any coastal districts in Istanbul, use the Metrobus to move great distances to the east and to the west, or take one of the plethora of buses to basically anywhere in Istanbul. The district is also about an hour away from both of the city’s airports so transits to and from there will never be a problem.

It has some of the best universities in Turkey and is known for its lively nightlife thus the region has a very vibrant lifestyle day and night. It is home to many companies especially in the Maslak part of the districts thus there is also a great deal of business that is being conducted here.

Some of the best Turkish cuisine can be found here, and many more. Other than eating and outings, the districts offers plenty of beautiful architecture to awe at. It is one of the oldest districts in Istanbul and some form of settlement was here since the founding of the city almost 1500 years ago. This means that there are all sorts of buildings to discover and sights to see. The very geography of the region with its many hills and greeneries also make it a top spot for your morning walks. More inland parts of the region host a plethora of shopping malls, some of the biggest and fanciest in Turkey, as well as many headquarters for holdings and private companies. There not only can you find anything you want to buy, but also many job opportunities or even the chance to set up your own company at a favourable spot in the city. Basically, Beşiktaş has it all.
People living in Beşiktaş are often regarded as some of the best and most liberal in Turkey. Projepedia ranks the socio-economic status of the district as A+ which is the best that one can get, and it is higher than most other famous districts of Istanbul such as Beyoğlu and Fatih. Residents of this district can be summed up in two categories, its old denizens and the students that come from all around the country to study here. Its older denizens are mostly locals that have been living there for centuries and have little shops there, which makes Beşiktaş what it truly is. Most of the students live at Beşiktaş temporarily but due to their numbers they make the most impact on how the district evolves as one can easily see that it has been growing to become more and more student-friendly in the last few decades. People of Beşiktaş are always welcoming, thoughtful, and cultured, and they respect people of all sorts. Beşiktaş is. most certainly one of the best places to live in Istanbul and its people are a great reason for that.
Main Attraction Points & Neighbourhoods
Etiler: Quaint Part of Istanbul
Etiler is known for its denizens who are almost all quite wealthy, and the possibility of seeing a celebrity almost any time in the day as many calls this neighbourhood their home as well. You should consider Etiler as your home too if you want a sophisticated little neighbourhood.
Levent: The Centre of Shopping
Levent has some of the biggest and nicest shopping malls in Istanbul such as Metrocity AVM. The area also hosts a great deal of Korean and Japanese businessmen due to its business-centric traits and thus is home to many such Far Eastern cuisines which is hard to find elsewhere.
Bebek means “baby” in Turkish and it could not have deserved a better suited name. It is likely the best neighbourhood in all of Istanbul with its many coastal cafes, bars, and parks, and it continues to be one of the most expensive parts of Istanbul due to its beauty.
Beşiktaş is also home to the BJK Vodafone Park Stadium, Çırağan Palace, Dolmabahçe Palace, Maritime Museum, Yıldız Park, Sinanpaşa Mosque, Yıldız Palace, and many more art pieces that are a must go if you ever visit the area.
HOUSING MARKET DESCRIPTION
Given the fact that Beşiktaş offers a lot in terms of education, entertainment, business, travel, transportation, shopping and many more there is a huge interest in the district. However, since it is a relatively small district it is quite hard to find houses for cheap prices. It is likely one of the best investments one can make the better his or her life, no matter whether they will move into their house or not so it would be wise to consider buying a home in Beşiktaş either as your new hub in Istanbul or as a smart investment for the future.
Zingat data says that it costs about 1.000.000 TL to buy a house of 100 metre square in Beşiktaş approximately, but obviously this number changes wildly with different parts of the district. As we have mentioned before places like Bebek are much more luxurious and expensive than the rest of Beşiktaş, and thus Turkey. The same house can cost around 5.000.000 TL in Bebek which should tell something about how much more expensive it is overall. Speaking of Beşiktaş thought, in general your investment will return its full amount in about 26 years which is rather good. Moreover, in the last 5 years the prices in the region have increased by 30 percent so one can assume that their initial investment will not stay the same for a prolonged amount of time. Ultimately, Beşiktaş is not only a great place to live but also a great place to invest in, and you too should consider getting a place of your own in this vital part of Istanbul.
